iOS 14.5 allows you to unlock your iPhone with your Apple Watch

iOS 14.5 allows users to unlock their iPhone using their Apple Watch running watchOS 7.4. This is much easier for people who can’t use Face ID because of the ongoing pandemic.

You can now use your Apple Watch as a secondary method to unlock your iPhone rather than using Face ID or typing in your passcode.

For this feature to work, you need to make sure that your Apple Watch is with you and is on your wrist. The first time you use it you’re going to need to enter your passcode to enable the functionality.

You can’t use the Apple Watch for other things like Apple Pay and App Store purchases and you can’t use the Apple Watch to unlock things in other apps. Those apps will still require a passcode or Face ID.
