Blackmagic Design has launched the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, a state-of-the-art camera specifically designed to capture spatial video content for Apple's Vision Pro headset.

The URSA Cine Immersive camera is equipped with an advanced stereoscopic 3D lens system and dual 8K sensors. This setup enables it to capture an impressive 180-degree field of view while supporting spatial audio. The camera delivers a high resolution of 8,160 x 7,200 pixels per eye and offers 16 stops of dynamic range, ensuring every frame is rich in detail and color accuracy. Additionally, it can record stereoscopic 3D immersive cinema content at 90 frames per second.

Constructed from a durable magnesium alloy chassis with a carbon fiber polycarbonate composite skin, the URSA Cine Immersive is both robust and lightweight. It features dual 5-inch HDR touchscreens and an external color status LCD screen for user convenience. The camera also boasts a wide range of connectivity options, including 12G-SDI output, 10G Ethernet, USB-C, XLR audio ports, and an 8-pin Lemo power connector.

The camera includes an 8TB Blackmagic Media Module, capable of storing around two hours of 8K stereoscopic video recorded in Blackmagic RAW format. It also supports Blackmagic’s Cloud Store, which allows for fast media upload and synchronization via the 10G Ethernet connection.

Alongside the new camera, Blackmagic Design is updating its DaVinci Resolve software to better support Vision Pro content creation. The enhanced software will feature a new immersive video viewer, allowing editors to pan, tilt, and roll clips on 2D monitors or directly on the Apple Vision Pro headset.

While the price of the URSA Cine Immersive has not yet been announced, it is expected to be in a similar range to the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K, which is priced at $14,995 without a lens. The cost of the dual lens system will likely be an additional factor in the final pricing.
