Apple Intelligence Makes the Home App Smarter With AI Video Summaries and Better Notifications

Apple is making the Home app more intelligent in iOS 27 with new Apple Intelligence features designed to make smart home activity easier to understand at a glance.

One of the biggest changes is coming to HomeKit Secure Video. Instead of requiring users to open and review every camera recording, the Home app will be able to generate short written summaries of recorded clips from compatible cameras. These descriptions can explain what happened in a scene, such as a delivery arriving, someone approaching the door, or activity near a specific area of the home.

Apple is also making camera footage easier to search. Users will be able to look for specific moments in their video history by describing what they want to find, helping them locate important events more quickly without manually scrolling through clips.

The Search page in the Home app will also highlight notable camera moments, giving users a faster way to review activity that may need attention. When an event involves more than one camera, the app can bring together related footage to provide a broader view of what happened across the home.

Apple Intelligence is also being used to improve Home app notifications. Rather than sending multiple separate alerts for every accessory that detects activity, the app will be able to recognize when those alerts are connected to the same event. For example, if motion is detected near a door, followed by a camera recording and another accessory update, the Home app can group that activity into one ongoing notification that updates as the event continues.
