Apple Intelligence Brings Context-Aware Help to Messages, Mail, and Phone

Apple is bringing more intelligence to everyday communication in iOS 27, with new Apple Intelligence features designed to make Messages, Mail, and Phone more helpful during real-world tasks.

One of the biggest additions is Call Context, a new Phone app feature that can surface useful details when calling a business. For example, if a user contacts an airline, hotel, delivery service, or retailer, the iPhone can look for related information in Mail, such as a booking number, order confirmation, reservation code, or appointment details, and display it during the call.

Apple says Call Context is designed with privacy in mind. The feature does not listen to the conversation and instead only uses the business being called to determine what information may be useful. Apple says the processing happens on the device, with no call-related data shared with Apple or outside companies.

Messages is also becoming more proactive. Apple Intelligence can now suggest actions based on what someone says in a conversation. If a friend asks for photos from a trip or event, Messages can suggest searching the Photos library using relevant people, places, or keywords. The app can also recommend creating a reminder or note when a conversation includes something the user may want to remember later.

Smart Reply is also getting more personal across Messages and Mail. Instead of only offering generic responses, Apple says replies can now better reflect the user’s own writing style. In Mail, suggested actions can also work with third-party apps, making it easier to move from an email into another task without manually switching between apps.
