Apple is expanding what AirPods can do, introducing studio-quality audio recording and remote camera controls as part of a major update coming this fall. The features, coming to AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with ANC, and AirPods Pro 2, turn the wireless earbuds into practical tools for content creators and professionals on the move.
Thanks to the H2 chip and beamforming mics, users can now capture high-fidelity vocals even in noisy settings — perfect for podcasting, interviews, or music recording. Voice Isolation enhances clarity across apps like FaceTime, Voice Memos, and third-party conferencing tools.
AirPods will also double as a remote shutter, letting users start or stop recordings and snap photos by pressing the stem — ideal for hands-free shooting on iPhone or iPad.
These features are rolling out in developer previews now, with a public beta next month and full release expected with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe.
