Apple is giving Siri its biggest identity shift in years with the introduction of Siri AI, a redesigned assistant built to feel more conversational, more aware of what users are doing, and more deeply connected across Apple’s platforms.
Announced at WWDC 2026, Siri AI brings many of the capabilities Apple originally promised during WWDC 2024, when the company first outlined a more personal and context-aware version of Siri as part of Apple Intelligence. After a long wait, the assistant is now being positioned as a more capable system that can understand what users are looking at, follow longer conversations, and take action across apps.
A major part of the update is deeper system integration. On iPhone, Siri AI now lives inside the Dynamic Island, where users can access it by swiping down, pressing the side button, or using a voice command. Apple has also updated Siri’s voice system to sound more expressive, with additional voice controls available during setup.
Apple showed several examples of how Siri AI can connect information across the device. In one demo, the assistant found details from a previous message, turned them into a planned menu, and prepared a message for the user to review before sending. In another example, Siri identified a location from a photo, opened directions, searched through related family trip images, and added a selected photo to a shared album.
The new Siri is also expanding beyond voice interactions. Apple is launching a dedicated Siri app where users can revisit past conversations, continue previous sessions, and start new requests. Conversation history will sync through iCloud, making it possible to move between devices without losing context. The app will also be available on Apple Watch.
On the Mac, Siri AI is being tied more closely into Spotlight and contextual menus, allowing users to ask questions or take action from files, windows, and search results. On Apple Vision Pro, Siri AI gains a spatial interface with a 3D presence that can be placed within the user’s environment.
While some parts of Siri AI are new, many of the headline features are centered on finally delivering the personal context, on-screen awareness, and app-based actions Apple previewed two years earlier.
