Apple CEO Tim Cook hints at ambitious AI plans at shareholders meeting

During Apple's annual shareholders meeting, CEO Tim Cook reaffirmed the company's dedication to pioneering advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). Cook declared that Apple will lead the way in groundbreaking generative AI developments throughout 2024, anticipating significant benefits for users.

Cook's statements echo earlier assertions regarding Apple's substantial investments and extensive efforts in AI research and development. Notably, there are expectations for the introduction of innovative generative AI features within iOS 18, poised to enhance the functionality of numerous native iOS applications.

However, while AI remained a focal point of discussion, the shareholder meeting proceeded with customary business proceedings. Shareholders rejected a proposal requesting Apple to provide a transparency report on the ethical use of AI.

Meanwhile, Apple's board and executive compensation plans received shareholder approval, although no additional proposals were accepted.

Furthermore, it was announced that Al Gore and James Bell would be retiring from Apple's board, with former Aerospace Corp. CEO Wanda Austin poised to join the board, signifying a shift in leadership dynamics.
