Apple announces special event which will take place on May 7 and features new iPads and Apple Pencil

Apple has announced a special event which will happen on May 7, where the company is set to unveil new iPad hardware and accessories under the theme "Let Loose." Scheduled to kick off online at 7 a.m. PT, the event promises to be a showcase of innovation and design excellence.

Unlike traditional in-person gatherings, Apple's May 7 event will be entirely virtual, reminiscent of the "Scary fast" event held last October. Invitations from Apple emphasize online viewing, with no indication of any in-person attendance options.

Excitement builds as Apple refreshes its homepage with different versions of the event's invite artwork, each offering tantalizing hints of what's to come.

The centerpiece of the "Let Loose" invite artwork suggests a new Apple Pencil, with imagery depicting the iconic accessory drawing a vibrant Apple logo. Rumors abound regarding the new Apple Pencil, speculating features such as Find My integration and magnetically swappable tips, offering users a variety of writing and drawing experiences. Additionally, sources suggest a potential "Squeeze" gesture capability, adding further intrigue to the mix.

Anticipation also surrounds the expected debut of a new iPad Pro lineup, with reports hinting at the adoption of OLED displays for both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models. Sleeker designs and thinner profiles are anticipated, promising enhanced user experiences and portability.

In a surprising twist, rumors suggest an expansion of the iPad Air lineup to include a larger 12.9-inch form factor, complementing the existing 10.9-inch size. Reports indicate the use of mini-LED displays, adding a touch of innovation to the lineup.

Not to be overlooked, Apple is rumored to unveil an updated Magic Keyboard designed specifically for the new iPad Pro models. With a focus on durability and functionality, the new Magic Keyboard is expected to elevate the iPad Pro experience, offering users a more laptop-like feel.

The Apple event will be available to view on YouTube, Apple.com, and the Apple TV app.
