A native calculator app might finally be coming to the iPad

Apple is reportedly gearing up to introduce a long-awaited feature for iPad users: the native Calculator app. According to recent reports from MacRumors, this addition is expected to be unveiled alongside the upcoming iPadOS 18 at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10th.

For more than a decade, iPad users have had to rely on third-party calculator apps or web browsers to perform basic math functions. However, the user experience with these alternatives has often been subpar, with some apps cluttered with ads or lacking integration with the iPad's interface. Moreover, premium calculator apps come at a cost, further complicating the situation for users.

The potential introduction of a native Calculator app for iPad comes amid rumors of a makeover for the Calculator app on macOS, adding to the anticipation surrounding Apple's software updates. Given Apple's history of delayed feature releases, such as the introduction of the Weather app to the iPad in 2022, the addition of the Calculator app at this stage is not entirely unexpected but nonetheless welcome.

iPadOS 18 alongside updates to all of Apple's other platforms will be announced at Apple's World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote on Monday June 10.
